Default DCT700 Testing

Hi

I would just like to test my understanding. I am new at dct testing even though i have been testing cable modems.

Option1

I have a subscribed box dct700 from cable company. Before disconnecting service from the cc.

1. Fake UID before calling to downgrade, this will prevent the XC chip from losing keys

Does this option still work ?

Option 2

I have a subscribed box dct700 from cable company. I will be getting another dct700 from ebay. I would like to get my box from ebay up and running.

1.First backup and clone my sub box
2.Restore backup of my sub box to the new box from ebay
3, Fake uid

Will this work. Came across some posts about the XC chip. Has anyone figured this out or could u point me in the right direction

Any help is appreciated

Try first reading the tutorials.
Option 1 will work if done correctly
Option 2 will NOT Work
