SPI with a CR4

Post by cavrac »

Does anyone know if the SPI log will work with a CR4 board
I have loaded the SPILog0793.bin but I dont seem to be getting any output on COM1, should there be alot of output or only when I make a change to my sub. I did test the SPI command and that did seem to work when I typed in some commands

Yes it will work with CR4 board for sure.
If your CR4 box powers up as normal and you do not see any traffic,
1. Make sure you load the special firmware of 7.93. DO a cmpram command to see if the firmware has been programmed.
2. Make sure you have proper cable connect to your PC. To prove that, you can use SPI commander to see if you can talk to the box via serial port.

Using my serial cable I can use the SPI commander, when I type in "s 2" I get 55 or type "s 0 0 0" and get 55 E9 81, so I think my serial cable and com port is ok

When I program the the SPILog0793.bin I do the following:

reset 1
init
ldram 400000
(Select the SPILog0793.bin, DCT Testing, Flip Firmware)
program
(Destination 406000, Size aa000, type INTEL TE28F800C3, click OK)
Program Pass
cmpram 406000 aa000
Compair data OK

I unplug the power to DCT, remove the BDM and plug power back into DCT. When it comes on I can change channels but get no guide or menu options, If I press power and then select the diag menu comes up and says my firmware is 7.93, and in app code there is no guide, If im plugged into coax after about 4 minutes the DCT power cycles by itself and I have a guide and menu.

Im still not getting any data in the SPILog.exe, but If I open SPIcommand.exe and then plug power into the DCT I get the folowing in the SPIcommand.exe screen
00 00 00 78 00 00 00 E0 80 00 F8 00 00 00 00 80 F8 00 00 00 F8 00

After my guide is back if I hook up the BDM and do a cmpram 406000 aa000 I get Compare Data Failed address 406000, target 42, memory 4E

I have tried this on 2 local CR4 boards with the same results, however I was able to do this successfully on a non local PH7 board using same cables and commputer, following the above steps with the exception selecting INTEL TE28F160C3 and flipping the firmware. I am getting lots of data output on the PH7 board , but this is a non local board that only gets analog and free digitals, so I need to capture the data from the CR4s to get any good data.

If you use flip firmware. You need to program this way.

reset 1
init
ldram 400000
(flip the formware).
program
(select 500000 length b0000)

This will do the job for you.

The reason is that when flipped, the firmware locates at 500000
