not sure what E02 means or why it would flash. usually only "8888" flashes for error codes. so you can read/write firmware and so on but when you try clear ppv it crashes?

If an application access an invalid address, Window will pop up an error.
1. Try to download latest application and dll.
2. Configurthe board to match your board. eg. PH6 etc. Check your NVRAM range is 200000 length 40000!!!
One thing I noticed that all the board will set A7 t 200400 but your board is 212400. What kind of board is this and which firmware is this? I think you have a bad firmware since 212400 is the area to hold important data.
If you still can not solve the problem, email me the firmware and nvram and let me have a look. The clear PPV is just clear certain field in nvram and can be done manually.

So this is not DCT 2000 box and then you need to do your home work. The daya structure of the box might be totally different than the DCT 2000. So I am not supprised it is crashing you. This feature will not work on your box. But you can certainly disassemble the code and find where to clear the PPV. It is hard believe me.

OK. I understand that but one thing that I don't understand is when I press power and then select on the box (to go to the diagnostig menu) on the top of the screen say: DCT 2000. So my question it is or not a DCT 2000

micron,

The unit you are working with will likely have different firmware and nvram.

If you have a good backup of the nvram then I would restore it and get back to a good state. Make sure it's good by comparing it to what's in nvram now. It should look simmilar except for the areas that were changed by clearing the PPV data.

Backup what you have now as well and check it. A backup is only good once it is verified!

There are three address ranges that are impacted by the clear PPV function. These will not be your addresses, this is where mine are.

1 - $0020B1AC - $2 Bytes long changed to FFFF
2 - $00216700 - $Variable length
3 - $00233680 - $Variable length

Finding the table in a new firware version layout is simmilar to brain surgery. Either you know what your looking for or the patient is going to have brain damage.

The table starts with 0103 and is followed by PPV records and looks something like this.

010309080800FF0500000008010309080800FF0500000008
F9F900DB020001301C5540F235000000000000000000000
0D60090059F97CBBCCA4B0000000E0000081C00010000004A0000
1C000200122FB5D4A0F3940000000000000000000
1E499000200012FBB60F0F2620000000000000000000
1EAF20002000A2FC2AF403CA40000000000000000000
1F1EC0002000B2FC9EF803C9D0000000000000000000
1FAA0000200012FD51D38F2350000000000000000000
21DBE0002000130002028F2620000000000000000000
206F0002000A1DD560002000A2FB18BC03CA50000000000000000000
1E05F00023608000237080002380800023C0800023E0800023F080002400800024308

This will need to be replaced with an empty table header like this one.

0103003F3F008000000000000103003F3F00800000000000828200DB

This of course will all fail if the firmware did not use the same data structure.

Your on your own from here.

Good luck in your quest.

based on model number it is a dct1000 box. i think it has the 68331 processor but it has less ram. are you sure it didn't say DCT1200 in the diagnostic screen? same as the 1000.

what he has shown you is how to find the code in your firmware for the ppv purchases. by finding this you can clear it out. the info cipher posted hasn't been posted here before in that detail. sorry but i don't know much about coding myself.

It is possible that Micron's DCT1000 will not work on his cable system, since the technology of that box is quite obselete. Certain CCs will no longer activate DCT1000s, & it is probably incapable of running current F/W & software, since the board is so old anyway. But, nothing ventured, nothing gained!

wow you must have a small cable system. mine stopped using them years ago. they will still work but as goddess said the memeory is too small for most CC's and it limits the apps they can install on them. other than that they are very similar to the 2000 series. the DCT1000 is only capable of 64QAM though and most CC's have all of their digi muxes set for 256QAM now. more channels per bandwidth. the dct1200 supports 256.

I looked at micron's firmware and NVRAM files, USB BDM is capable to work on the box. But the DCTTest.dll will not since all the features are just for DCT 2000. It is possible though that by working hard on it we can get the same result we have for DCT 2000. I is surelly difficult since even non-PH board gave us a lot trouble and this board is even older.
