MC68F375 - GM ECU

Post by damianbm »

Hi im new to this forum my name is Damian and i have some car electronics workshop.

Over the years working with car ECUs i found some ecu from GM that has some MC68F735 MCU. There is some tools that can read it via obd port, but no solution whe ecu it's briked or failed when flash is loaded via k line.
I have one of this ecus with failed flash and i managed to read it using usb nt but with some fails that i need help.

Over the time i found other ecu with similiar architecture and i will add here but i will try to make this working perfect first.

Ecu is Delphi Multec with 64 pins (2 connectors, Black 32 pins and Grey 32 pins)

Pin asignations of bdm connector
Delphi ( FGP 93369629 DZNK YL) with MC68F375
Pin -- Function
1 5v
2 GND
3 RESET
4 GND
5 DS / PE4
6 IPIPE / DSO
7 FREEZE / QOUT
8 IFETCH / DSI
9 BKPT / DSCLK
10 GND

It connects well with programmer recognizes MCU and flash size 256KB.
I get some good results reading this ecu with usb nt, but no good verification of flash after write command. I know it has some 95040 eeprom that i think can be readed with the software and bdm connection.
I've tryed to reduce cable length between programmer and ecu but seems no resuls. And changed communication speeds but no results too. I don't know hwo to add to xml configuration to read the eeprom too.

Any input will be apreciated

Thanks

For reading eeprom via bdm, normally need software development. A new data file needs to be added after development. Another option would be to read via direct connect eeprom pins to u-link NT.
I can setup remote section to help you.

Thanks for your answer Eeprom no problem to read out of the board o wire it to usb nt programmer. Just asking if it was possible in some easy with bdm connected.

Remote session could be good to fix writing and verify problems. Maybe im doing something wrong with the speed or cable length.

thanks!

EEPROM can use TSOP 8 clip. Check my videos on youtube showing how to read EEPROM or SPI flash. That clip is quite cheap.

Hi just updating post with the other ecu with similiar architecture. Im attaching photos of this board, connections and ecu photo. Only diference with other is the eeprom. instead some 95040 it uses some 25LC256. And it has drive by wire and other stuff.

This ecu is GM 24578505 hast 2 connectors ( K & M with 64 pin each)

it works ok, i don't test write and verify but reading ok with no problem.

Hi! i have been working wiht the 64+64 pin ecu flash reads ok and compared with some readed by obd it's the same. But i try to erase and write via bdm and ecu stops working. its possible that i need to read other sector from mcu (ex. configuration registers, shadow, etc)?

thanks!

Come to my main site and I can setup zoom and help you remotely. I think you might need to modify the XML but I have to view your desktop first.
