As long as I can get this thing to work I don't care what firmware it has. I had a modem with Sigma 1.5 and it worked good enough for me...

ok i extracted the firm and firm 1 and i made a compare in hex workshop and the firm 1 was identical to sigma 1.5 the only thing that changed is that sigma 1.5 had a header and the firm 1 extracted from the one that i posted didnt had a header but if i remove the header they are identical

this is the part that changes
3.NH-R2.SB4200..SCM_05..825233...j.Y....l....*rSB4200.SGM.Hex.bin..............0.................................................................................

Bah!

If anyone else has a 4200, the firmware in this form works!

I don't know what the differnce is between firmwares...

The purpose is just to have a stable enviroment to change the mac address at will. So if it works why upgrade?

Although I have been told upgrading from a 3100/4100/4200 to a 51XX will give you higher speeds...

Downgrade SB4200 firmware from Docsis 1.1 to 1.0

Post by internet_master_pro »

make sure you run tftpd32 tftp server before running chapter 21 and have the .bit file in the same directory use the chapter 21 program to enable factory mode and write commands to ram run the program until it request 4200.bin then close chapter 21 after the error comes up then use onestep to update firmware use target ip 192.168.100.1 community string public firmware server 192.168.100.10 firmware filename SB4200-0.4.4.0-SCM06-NOSH-NNDMN.p7 you can get this firmware off of tcniso.net use tftpd32 tftp server and set the security settings to none I couldnt get the other tftp server to work it would timeout before finishing uploading firmware once that firmware is loaded then use open sesame to change firmware to whatever firmware you want
