Error reading DCT2500

Post by ranger4479 »

I am wandering if Im the only one experiencing this error, the JTAGNT software works perfectly with the DCT2224, and DCT700, but with the DCT2500 it writes the same garbage code to all the tabs, I mean, it is not the right code in the boot tab, and the same wrong code repeat exactly at the plat tab, and at the app1 tab, and at app2 tab, and so on, I have tryied everything, including lowering the speed, with the speed 1 command, and I assume it is got to be the software because it works ok with the jtagnt on the dct700, and with bdmnt on the dct2224. It does not happen allways, but it happens most of the times, I mean, it will start to work right for two, or three boxes, but then start with that error. If somebody have some info to help me, I will really appreciate the help, and here goes the thanks in advance..............ranger4479.

That is very strange.
I will take a look of this tomorrow. The programming is the same cross the platforms. If this does not work it will not work on SB510x too.
The only thing I can think of is the watchdog. I will take a look if the init sequence is correct.
If watchdog is not disabled the programming will crash and it will not work well. In this case use "erase" and "sprogram" will work. The "sprogram" on NT is about 4-5 times faster than the old USBJTAG.

OK I tested DCT2500 programming it is good.
detect
IDCODE 2711517F
Broadcom BCM7115
IMPCODE 00800908
DMA supoorted
Found Address= 90000000 Intel 28F640J3
The question will be if your flash is right.
Please note, as of 0.11 you cannot do "cmpram" after program as you can on USBJTAG. I will add this back latter.
If you want to cmpram, power off on the box and do cmpram. Mine program works as expected.

Here is what detect show me
-detect
IDCODE 2711517F
Broadcom BCM7115
IMPCODE 00800908
DMA supoorted
Found Address= 90000000 Intel 28F320J3
Notice it is not the same flash as in your detect, but 28F320J3 is the one mounted
in the board, I did tryed three more boxes, and all of then have the same flash, I see the number clearly, I have no idea if this is causing the error, I am sending you a copy of the
nvram, named bad_nvram.bin, but it looks good, also I am sending you a copy of the firm_
ware named, bad325code.bin, this is totally wrong, and as the cmpram, I never used, so
I think the problem is somewhere else, like I have said before, sometimes works great, but
then starts acting up, and if I read a dct700, works flawlessly. Thanks for your attention,
and hope that I can help to make this product even better.

This is not right. Do you use USB on 1.1 or on USB 2.0 port? The NVRAM looks OK to me.

I don't know exactly wich usb is, it is my guess it is 1.1 because I remember seeing a message that if I connected the device to a usb 2.0 port, it will be faster, but, I have tried
with the speed 1 command, and still nothing, if I do a getram nvram, it reads good code, but if a try getram boot, getram plat, or getram 90000000 400000, it reads the same garbage code that I've sent you, in all the tabs, then again with the dct 700, and dct2224 works ok, I have tried uninstall and install all kinds of drivers, ezusb, cypress, and win32usb,
and still the same results, I am using a ACER laptop, with windows xp, home edition, and service pack3, I did open and account at LogMeIn just in case you have the time to look at mi computer, let me know at what time it is best for you, I will appreciate your efforts

Can you setup VNC or logmein, I will take a look.
If the box does not power up you cannot use getram boot as you might need to use getram 9fc00000 address. Only with good boot you can map the flash to 9x90000000.

I did try Logmein, but it is not working right, Monday I will try VNC, because I am visiting
my parents in law for the weekend, but the box starts right, and gives me video, although
I disconnect the cable before reading or writing to the box. Monday I will install VNC and connect the box so you can do your thing, thanks for your help so far, and have a nice weekend.
