Regarding desoldering...
Before using desoldering tools, it helps to add just a very small amount of fresh solder to the joint. And if your solder does not have rosin core, then get some flux. Actually no matter what get some flux. Also leaded solder lower melting point is easier to work with.
When parts are stubborn, I resort to hot air. Then to clean out the holes just heat 'em up and use either a toothpick or stainless steel sewing needle to push solder out of the via. As last resort I use my pcb drill bits and redrill. Solder is soft, but very possible to damage the via.

I'll hold off on the Mouser order, just a couple too many than I can use!
