Help!!

Post by joe9877000 »

Hi, I have a DCT 2244. Last week, the cc updated the boxes but mine wasn't updated. As a result, I lost my VOD. So, i tried to update the box myself. I was able to obtain a copy of firmware 8.15. So i changed the box's firmware to 8.15. However, when i try to load my own nvram, I am not able to. On the diagnostic menu, only firmware 8.15 is shown that is installed and active . What should I do to load my NVRAM? Thanks in advance.

Normally when you plug in the CC will update your application. Just plug in and wait for a while.

Thanks for the quick reply. Also, do you think it is safe if i don't click on Block Application Upgrade and Block Channel Upgrade as long as i have a fake UID?
Thanks

If the CC update your firmware then your fake UID will get lost and you are back to your original UID.

Dear USBBDM,
The box didn't update itself. Right now, I have no TV guide. What else should I do? When I restore the box to firmware 7.96, I am able to upload the NVRAM and it can be seen on Diagnostic menu. But, When I upload firmware 8.18, the NVRAM doesn't show up on the Diagnostic menu. By the way, I left the box connected for about an hour to an hour and half. Was that enough time to update? when i connected to box, a four letter word that i believe started with SE flashed and then nothing was on the LCD. Even when i turned off the box, i was still able to get signal to TV and watch the channels.
Thank you so much for your help.

I think this is old model. Not ph7/8/9. Then you must find the same model and clone its nvram.
Check if it is type II of old board which you need to flip the firmware to program.

The board is DCT 2244 PH8. With Firmware 7.96, for VOD, after the CC updated, I get the error " Communication Errors. IF the problem continued, please call.......". Is there anyway I can fix it without changing the firmware to 8.15? I changed UPM , and UID but still the same problem. May be i am not using the right commands. This is what I did to change the firmware and NVRAM:

reset 1
init
ldram 400000 (Change UID and Code checksum)
flshdct 400000
program 400000 200000

ldram 200000 (Change UPM and Box Time)
setram 200000 40000

As i said before, Firmware 8.15 shows on diagnostic but not TV-guide and VOD.

Thank you so much for your help

You need an updated nvram. At this point it is not going to update itself. If you want vod again you will need to get the nvram from a subbed box.

anyway to force it update? When it is updating, how should the box be functioning? BC last time when i loaded the firmware 8.15 and waited for it to update, i wasn't able to turn off the box. Even when there was nothing on the front LCD, i was able to watch the channels on TV.
