i found a 3rd box today, ph8 but the channels are grainy/dosent tune on all.
can i change a tunner from a ph7 to the ph8?
ph8 with dead tunner.

The tuner is fixed on the board, unless you're good with soldering and know the circuit layout extremely well, you're stuck with whatever tuner you have. It sounds like its not tuning digital frequencies. In the in-band diagnostics, do you see QAM 256 or Analog for modulation? I had this problem and it turned out I had the firmware for the wrong box. The tuner was a V860D and the firmware I upgraded it to was for a V860DL tuner.

hmmm.. when i first dumped its code and nvram i used the backup script, now it seems those backups are bad. the box dosent get guide and it does not bootup.
i only had ph7 dumps around and i get guide but i get this channel should be avalible shortly message.. also the tunner its the same on my ph7 and ph8 box.
with ph7 bins:
E: 00
snr: 21 db good
carrier lock: yes
count: 1
channel status: connected digital 00
any ideas?
