Bricked Gateway AR230 DVD Recorder - HELP!

Post by dyerre2 »

I have a bricked (powers up and HELLO appears on front screen) DVD Recorder. Can not get anywhere to update, reprogram, or reset.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is the info I've collected so far.

Main Board - MODEL:LVW5006A REV:01

ATmega AT89S52 flash chip

The 10 pin interface on the system board IS A JTAG connector.
Pin 1 is MOSI,
Pin 3 is VDD,
Pin 5 is RST,
Pin 7 is SCK,
Pin 9 is MISO.
Pins 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 are ground.

Don't have jtag software (ordered USBJTAG)
Can't find Flash software for Gateway AR230 but is a rebadged Liteon 5001-7 board. Gateway only has an EXE file and the unit has to update by DVD drive which is not accessible, or not excepting the flash.

Again, Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

This is not a JTAG port.

Wow!! Thats good to know!! So basically, anytime there is a 10-Pin connector on any circuit boards, they are automatically Jtag connectors? Nice!!!
