Unlocked VT2442 with USBJTAG NT.

I have unlocked VT2442 with USBJTAG NT and CYT tool last night. Very solid hardware with 8M flash. Wonder why no one convert this into a good Linux platform to run Asterix on it. The program speed is super fast, no need to use serial port to program.
Will do some more testing to fully convert it to a generic SIP device.

Unlock VT2442 is much easier using USBJTAG NT than using the serial port method.

When you say "unlocked", what does that mean exactly? You were able to dump the firmware or do more than that?

It was locked to Vonage and unloced you can use to any VOIP provider.

But I thought this will automatically "Dial" home to vonage,and they lock it back up again...

With USB JTAG NT you can remove this dial home.

Testing on a new VT2142 and found a new type of flash from AMD (Spansion). This type of flash has different API and can improve the speed. So a newer version of software (0.16) will be released to reflect this change. I read the datasheet that program a full 8M flash should be 63 seconds. But with USB JTAG NT we can get faster than the speed on the datasheet. That is without buffer write. I will see if buffer write can make any change. Could be less than 30 seconds to write the 8M flash.

What is your flash? I am finishing 0.16 and then I will create a dll to unlock them. This will take a while. But if you want to do it manually you can do it now and if the flash is not S29GL064M.

Can you just read the boot and change the ADMIN_PWD as RTP300. Erase the log and both cfg then your box should be unlocked. Use your TFTP server of http server to download the configuration.
Backup first of course.

Have you started unlock it?
I found unlock is not as easy as other boxes.

11.4.0-r060721-1.1.0 -r3 it the one I found to be the latest.

What I did is to change Admin password. change the hash_dir and CRYPT_KEY. Log in as admin and then write down the "Encryption Key". New version will have this removed.

Then use TFTP server and rc4 your xml file. Setup Provisioning Profile Base URL: and reboot, the configuration is finished. 0.16 software has its xml file already.
