usbbdm wrote:I read one post said that serial port program will be "faster" than NT. Do you think that is even possible?
The max speed of serial is 115 kbps which translate to about 12KB/s. USB JTAG NT can do about 250KB/s programming. Read speed at 900KB/s. I really do not know how that post can be true. But if you say you need only once open the modem and program the "noisy bootloader" then you can the close the box, that is true. But speed will not be of any issue here. If you already use NT to program the bootloader, there is no point to use serial to program the image0 while you still have NT connected.
you issue commands via serial and the bootloader downloads the firmware over ethernet and flashes itself. and you cant really brick the modem once uboot has been flashed, you only program the firmware, uboot is never touched.

changing mac wont work the modem will not get onlinecablecowboy wrote:well that looks easy. Thanks usbbdm. So how about changing mac and turning off firmware updates and uploading config. I'm guessing its not like haxoware where we can do those things from the gui page. We still need serial for that i'm guessing and do it the way retard123 did in his video?
btw it doesn't matter what cm file I load 6120 - 5101 still get the same speed
Seems I have to do a lot of work to figure out what the other guys are doing with the 160mb dl

Mine is online. I changed the mac, there is very little security with my providor. Thanks to usbbdm, retard123 and all of you guys. It made the job nice and easy with the videos. And of course thanks to all at sbh for the firmware and how to's and extra help they gave me.stomperz wrote:changing mac wont work the modem will not get online

Let me rephrase that as questions
What provider?
Did you have to change your mac to get online?
How many Octets did you change?
Does it matter what cm file you load - speed change?
Your speed?
I'm online as you can see but I'm trying learn the new firmware.
I appreciate you response to my questions.

Yes there is no gui its beta firmware. You need to use putty and filezillas ftp server. I would copy and paste a how to from jsalz that I followed but sbh seems to be down right now and I canrt remember the commands myself.TUNDRA wrote:How do you change the config Files On this Modem?
