JTAG a 6141 Issues

Post by PRPirate »

Hello guys,

I'm trying to jtag the SB6141 with no luck. I've done it on a SB6121 using the post from geant90. Thank you to him. I'm use to plugging the power supply and then removing it to ID the chip.
I've been reading the posts regarding the SB6141. It supposed to be the same pinout but I'm reading other posts that say a little different. (Ex. Pins 1,2,9 connect together). Anyway to start with the SB6141 is the white one. Not sure if that matters. I'm made the following connections to the SPI:

I tried 5v external power that didn't work. Then I tried a USB TTL 3.3V that didn't work either. I confirmed pinouts and also the soldering. When I click ID all i get is ff, ff, ff

Can you guys help out?

Do not brick1 This is still the correct wiring and method. Just try with different voltages 3.3 or 5.0 2a or 1a I just got mine to detect on 3.3v I followed my instructions but after I failed to detect I quickly unplugged usb that supports 3.3v then reapplied and detected!

FIGURED IT OUT THANKS TO MY COENGINEER IN CRIME!

Wire up as directed and ensure USB power is 2Amps as that is what we used.

THIS IS WHERE IT IS DIFFERENT! SOMETHING CHANGED WITH THE LATEST ARRIS 6141 MODEMS BUT WE FIGURED IT OUT.

1)Connect only the jtag cable and jusbjtagnt usb cable to computer and ensure it is in Activated state.
2)Plug in the Modems power adapter for 5 seconds and remove
3)Quickly plug in 5V from a USB source
4)Detect
5)Success

It gets stuck on programming due to the voltage. I used one of those galaxy chargera that provides 5.2 or 5.3 2amps. Prior I tried with a cell 5.0 2 amp and it would fail at programming. Also tried with usbblackcat voltage and at 5 volts as soon as I hit program for usbjtagnt the led on usbblackcat would get incred8bly dim and write failed. iT'S THIRSTY!
