Programming a CPLD
Odd question but can I use this to program another Xilinx CPLD? I do not need the USBJtag NT to EMULATE a Xilinx chip I just need it to be able to program one.
Is this possible?
Is this possible?

I need to program the same cpld that usbbdm used in the other thread but am confused on one point.
At one point you indicated the usbjtag nt hardware would need to be sent back for an upgrade, is this the case and if so how do we arrange to do that.
I'm sure you are about to be overrun with CPLD and NAND dumping questions as the reset glitch hack just got dash launch support
Thank you again,
Brian

generate stapl (JAM) file from jed file
The RGH release comes with jed files, but usbjtagnt uses stapl files. Here's a quick video to show how to generate a JAM file from a jed file with iMPACT.

I am not sure if the converted file from JED will work. I had someone created Stapl file from the compiler and that works fine. I tried once with the converted file and that did not work. You can have a try and report back the result.nahdude wrote:The RGH release comes with jed files, but usbjtagnt uses stapl files. Works perfectly with RGH v1.1 tested on a falcon MB.usbbdm wrote:I am not sure if the converted file from JED will work. I had someone created Stapl file from the compiler and that works fine. I tried once with the converted file and that did not work. You can have a try and report back the result.
It runs surprisingly fast and consistant.
It never takes more than a couple seconds to boot into custom dash/xell!
I noticed when programming the cpld that the software returned something like..
EXPORT key = BUFFER_YADA_YADA, value = 1185
I don't remember what it exactly returned, but there was 0 crc errors and the file executed successfully.
I also tried generating the stapl file with the source files in Project Navigator. This also works. The only difference that I can tell is the time stamp and ISE software versions of the resulting file.
Thanks again for all the outstanding support.
