I have a WRT54G-TM (8M flash) that I am trying to flash but the usbjtag software doesn't recognize the flash chip. The detect feature displays this:
-detect
IDCODE 0535217F
Broadcom BCM5352
IMPCODE 00800904
EJTAG V1, V2.0
DMA supoorted
Unknown flash type!
Report these values http://www.usbjtag.com/vbforum 0000,0000
The flash chip is an Intel JS 28F640

It is very likely you have programmed a wrong CFE to the router. You should use 3.3V trick.liviu wrote:I have a WRT54G-TM (8M flash) that I am trying to flash but the usbjtag software doesn't recognize the flash chip. The detect feature displays this:

1. Power off the router and unplug USB.
2. Carefully connect 3.3v to CE of flash.
3. Power on the router and connect USB.
4. hit detect you should see 0xff,0xff
If not do not go further.
5. use "tap c and tap a ffffffff" to enter debug ON.
6. remove the 3.3v from CE.
7. detect again and you should get flash.
8. Use "erase cfe" and then "sprogram cfe" to program a valid CE.
There are quite a few videos on youtube using similar method on MIPS target. The latest E1500 video is good example.
