Have a Brand New DCT6412 Phase III Question

Post by norbit »

I have this brand new never before used Motorola DCT6412 Phase III receiver.
The unit was still boxed and is shiny as hell inside. I picked this up from a house sale practically for nothing. I thought it may be worth a shot even though I am not exactly sure what area this is from. Even if they are new, does it matter?

My question is can something be done to this and should I hook it up to cable?
and will it be worth it for me to go through the trouble of soldering the pin header for the Jtag. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

You can only get channels that the box was once authorized for. Otherwise you will only be able to get free channels. You are best off subscribing the box and get a package with all channels. Change your UID, UPM, etc.. and then cancel your subscription. This way you will keep the channels you had.

Well, you could fake a UID that is registered to an account with premium channels such as HBO, Showtime, etc... You will get premium only channels that way.

Ok let me ask it like this. If there were to come a time that this can be Jtagged, should I have it hooked up with the cable company? I thought I had read somewhere that the new boxes come already with all channels open.

If it comes from the cable company they will load the apps and channel map before they hook it up, but it will reload the channel map when they auth the box. If you got one that was open that they didn't auth. You would have to stop the box from getting oob information from the head end ie block auth commands, but for now you can only do that for non dvr boxes. The 6412 would work for say about 20-60 mins without this mod.

"The 6412 would work for say about 20-60 mins without this mod."

Is that a fact?

I have a 6412 I'd love to connect just long enough to see what channels are programmed, but I'm afraid to connect it.
I don't want to lose the possiblity of one day using this box if someone figures out how to keep it safe.

there is no guarranty...but block the uplink that way the box will not report back for CC but company does auto deauth all the missing or deactivated equipment once every period of time no exact specific time known.
do not believe what i say 10% its true

so changing the UID will stop the auto deauth or we also need to block any command going to xcchip?

Blocking commands to the XC Chip would be the most important since this is what erases the previously subscribed channels. Fake UID would make it less likely for them to send the command in the first place.

I must have missed something in this thread...
You're now talking about blocking commands to the XC Chip?
Is this the result of blocking the uplink?

Yes to a degree. Auth commands are executed by the XC.
