Have a Brand New DCT6412 Phase III Question
I have this brand new never before used Motorola DCT6412 Phase III receiver.
The unit was still boxed and is shiny as hell inside. I picked this up from a house sale practically for nothing. I thought it may be worth a shot even though I am not exactly sure what area this is from. Even if they are new, does it matter?
My question is can something be done to this and should I hook it up to cable?
and will it be worth it for me to go through the trouble of soldering the pin header for the Jtag. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

If it comes from the cable company they will load the apps and channel map before they hook it up, but it will reload the channel map when they auth the box. If you got one that was open that they didn't auth. You would have to stop the box from getting oob information from the head end ie block auth commands, but for now you can only do that for non dvr boxes. The 6412 would work for say about 20-60 mins without this mod.

Is that a fact?
I have a 6412 I'd love to connect just long enough to see what channels are programmed, but I'm afraid to connect it.
I don't want to lose the possiblity of one day using this box if someone figures out how to keep it safe.

You're now talking about blocking commands to the XC Chip?
Is this the result of blocking the uplink?
