Very easy way to debrick a DCT2500.

Post by usbbdm »

If your DCT2500 are in the stage that you cannot detect flash no matter what you do. Here is a simple solution I just found while replacing a flash chip. The idea is same as CE method but much easier to operate. I hope everyone knows this method and once verified by another person I will make this thread sticky.

1. Find the J200 above the CPU. This jumper is used for manufacture to program the flash chip and if they had known JTAG can be this fast, they might change the way they program.
2. Use a jumper to connect the jumper.
3. Power on the DCT2500.
4. In JTAG NT type these two commands.
tap c
tap a

You should see DEBUG ON.
5. Remove the jumper
6. Type detect and you should see the flash this time.
7. Then you can use erase bootand sprogram bootto program the boot.
8. Use scmpram boot to verify the boot is programmed properly.
9. Power cycle the DCT2500 box.
10. detect the flash.
11. Load the platform you want to program.ldram plat
12. use program plat.

Your box should go back to life now. This is a much simpler method than the CE one.

I confirm that the J200 trick works. And I found one more tip when program remotely tonight.
After you erase and sprogram the boot. It is also important to erase the plat. A bad plat can also make the box dead and hard to debrick.

Are you using NT or not? If not then you should use "bk".

J200 short is only for you to stop CPU. You issue command of tap c and tap a ffffffff and debug DBEUG ON. You need to remove J200 after that.
