Motorola VIP-1920

Post by lattjo »

Hardware info:
STi7109 - SoC from ST with an embedded SH4 CPU
M28W320FS - 32 Mbit 2Mb x16/ Boot Block Low Voltage Flash Memory
NAND-256W3A - 256 Mbit 1.8V/3V NAND Flash Memory

JTAG connector onboard, added 10k resistor to PIN17.

Result:
-detect
IDCODE 2D42C041
STi STi5202

How can I proceed from here?

I choose Target: SV8000, full output:

Copyright (C) 2010,2011,2012
USB JTAG NT 0.55
Target: SV8000
-detect
IDCODE 00000000
-detect
IDCODE 2D42C041
STi STi5202
-detect
IDCODE 2D42C041
STi STi5202

I found only v0.55 for linux but there is 0.56b for windows. However it probably won't matter since this STB isn't supported (yet)

For the Looks of things, It looks like USBBDM may be able to Add Suport for this STB...

Sti5202 is supported in 0.56a. You can select B600V4.
Check this video. Second half is Sti5202 with 29Gl128.

Also you need to make sure your connection is good. TRST is not the pin 1 on USB JTAG NT. You also need to check your hardware ID. If it is higher than 4000 then it should be OK.

NAND is not supported yet.

I bought my usbjtag NT 2 weeks ago so it's 45xx.
I did make the error mistacking TRST to be on PIN one at first but I corrected it and since I get correct IDCODE I guess I got it right?

Nothing more happens, I guess flash is mapped elsewhere?
How can I progress from here?

I played a bit more with my STB but I can only read zeroes from any memory position using search, i.e.: "search 10000000 f0000000 100000" gives nothing.
Is there a special connection like SRST that might or might not be properly connected?

If you do not see TRAP ON it is not right.

I don't see TRAP ON. Could it be JTAG is disabled on this stb? Any way to debug this?

Carefully check the connection. The TRST pin is NOT pin 1 on NT.
